This is how RDNIS voicemail works:

  1. Some external system sends calls to the Enswitch machine with the called number being a number on Enswitch (e.g. 0123456789), and the RDNIS set to the mailbox to use (e.g. 0987654321) . For example, this could be a mobile phone network and 0987654321 would be the number of the mobile that redirected the call to voicemail.
  2. Enswitch routes the call according to the called number as usual. The number 0123456789 (as in Features -> Numbers) points to the RDNIS voicemail feature.
  3. This feature sees that the RDNIS is 0987654321 and so plays that mailbox. By default it only looks for this mailbox in the same customer, unless the "RDNIS voicemail inter-customer" configuration setting is enabled.
